Role summary

As an IT Generalist, you will be employed by Ruah Tech Solutions and embedded into a next-generation decentralised impact investment platform to manage, secure, and optimize core IT systems and infrastructure. With an automation-first approach, you will ensure operational resilience, user productivity, and compliance across business-critical platforms, including business intelligence tools like Power BI, during rapid growth.

About the engagement

You will operate as part of an Embedded Capability Team that moves in lockstep with the client’s internal rhythms, working as a true extension of their in-house team rather than a separate vendor track. The engagement is designed for long-term capability building, shared ownership of outcomes, and deep domain expertise in sustainability, impact, and financial data over time.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain core company platforms including cloud workspaces (AWS Workspaces, Google Workspace), collaboration tools (Slack, Microsoft Teams, email systems), and business intelligence platforms like Power BI.
• Provision and administer user accounts, access controls, and permissions across all systems, including Power BI workspaces, datasets, and gateways, with strong adherence to least-privilege and ISO 27001 compliance standards.
• Support integration between core business systems (CRM, financial tools, HR platforms, Power BI, document management) ensuring seamless data flow and user experience.
• Provide hands-on troubleshooting and incident response for IT issues across endpoints, networks, applications, BI tools, and integrations, minimizing downtime through systematic root cause analysis.
• Deploy and maintain endpoint security solutions, backups, antivirus, and patch management for workstations, laptops, and mobile devices.
• Monitor system health, performance, and security posture using enterprise monitoring tools, with automated alerting and basic AI-assisted anomaly detection across BI and operational systems.
• Automate routine operational tasks (user onboarding/offboarding, system backups, compliance reporting, Power BI refresh schedules, software deployments) using scripting and workflow tools.
• Document IT processes, configurations, and standard operating procedures, including BI data governance and integration patterns, to ensure knowledge transfer and operational continuity.
• Collaborate with business users, analysts, and engineering teams to resolve technical issues and support feature delivery without operational disruption.

Required skills and experience

• Strong hands-on experience administering cloud workspaces, productivity platforms, and business intelligence tools like Power BI (workspaces, gateways, data sources, DAX/refresh management).
• Proficiency managing collaboration and business systems (Slack, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, CRM integrations, financial/ERP tools, Microsoft 365 ecosystem).
• Proven troubleshooting expertise across endpoints, networks, applications, BI platforms, and system integrations with solid incident management experience.
• Practical knowledge of IT security fundamentals (IAM, endpoint protection, firewalls, encryption, vulnerability scanning, ISO 27001 compliance) applied to BI and data platforms.
• Experience with Windows/macOS endpoint management, Active Directory/Entra ID, and mobile device management (MDM).
• Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, Microsoft Endpoint Manager, Power BI admin monitoring) and automation scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
• Experience supporting distributed teams across time zones with remote-first IT operations.
• Typically 3–5+ years of systems administration or IT operations experience in growth-stage companies.

Preferred skills

• Experience supporting fintech, blockchain, ESG/impact organizations, or BI-heavy environments with compliance and security requirements.
• Exposure to developer tooling support (GitHub, Jira, Confluence) alongside business user platforms.
• Advanced automation skills using tools like Ansible, Terraform (basic), Microsoft Intune, or Power Automate for BI workflows.
• Knowledge of zero-trust security principles, enterprise integration patterns (Zapier, Microsoft Power Platform), and Power BI Premium/Embedded administration.
• Hands-on experience with AWS core services (Workspaces, EC2, RDS, S3) used by business and BI teams.
• Comfort working across cultures and time zones with excellent written and verbal communication.
